About Me-
My name is Kaylynn Sexton. I was born and raised in Clover, South Carolina, about an hour away from Converse. I attended Clover High School and played volleyball there. I am presently enrolled at Converse and intend to major in History. I adore animals and aspire to one day own my own farm. Currently, I am the proud mother of a miniature poodle named Brady and a bearded dragon named Tommy. I also volunteer at the Local Humane Society and help with the animals there.
Current Go-To: 505 by Artic Monkeys
My musical preferences vary widely and are determined not by a certain artist but rather by the song. I occasionally listen to some other Artic Monkey songs, but I don't listen to them frequently. Usually, I locate music by making my playlist play just comparable songs, but if I'm looking for something new, I am attracted to the rhythm and Tone. Normally, I enjoy acoustic music, but this particular track stands apart. The beat, which changes frequently during the song, is what captivates me. My favorite moment in this song is about 3:05 in the video.
I usually also listen to music that is not too old. This song debuted in 2007. This song isn't old by any means, but because I was only 3 when it came out, it seems older to me. The majority of music published either before or shortly after I was born doesn't appeal to me. The majority of the songs on my playlist don't have anything in common with this song, which occupies a really unique place in my musical taste.
Meaningful Piece: Dancing in the Sky by Dani and Lizzy
The fact that this song was performed during my grandfather's funeral is what makes it special to me. I think about him and all the wonderful times we shared while this song is playing, as well as how much he loved me. Despite the fact that I don't generally listen to this style of music, he did, thus it has a special place in my heart.
A piece I don't connect with: Just Wanna Rock by Lil Uzi Vert
Generally speaking, I enjoy many kinds of music, so just because I don't like a certain song doesn't indicate I won't like the musician as a whole. The one exception to this rule is Lil Uzi Vert. I don't find a lot of the music he releases to be appealing. I dislike the autotune he utilizes in all of his songs, and I find the words repetitive. The vocal style of rap rarely appeals to me and this song, Just Wanna Rock, contains all of the elements that turn me away from most rappers.
Kaylynn,
ReplyDeleteI love Arctic Monkeys. Their songs always have a strong beat to them. I think the tempo of the song you posted is much like their other songs!
Arctic monkeys is so good, I actually own their AM album on vinyl. If you wanna look for music similar to theirs id recommend looking at some songs from The Neighbourhood and The Strokes. I've been listening to “The Adults are Talking” pretty frequently and I feel like it has kind of the same feel to it.
ReplyDeleteI very much agree with not really liking rap music that much. There is no real instruments to me. I just can never really connect with it.
ReplyDeleteHi Kaylynn! I love "505"! It's always been a go-to of mine, especially when I'm in a bit of a music drought.
ReplyDeleteI totally hear you about rap. I like the older stuff, but the "mumble rap" of today just isn't something I really like listening to. However, if you're ever on the lookout for some modern rap you might enjoy, I recommend Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers by Kendrick Lamar!
